As is customary in our tradition, a few names are kept for the baby on the 11th day naming ceremony! (We joke that if they don't like the name when they grow up, they have others to choose from at least ;) )

And true to tradition, I have 5 beautiful names!..I am sure you are wondering what they are and what they mean! So here they come...

1.  Drishyaa G. Deepak
Drishyaa also means Vision/Sight/Picture - My parents say I am their vision of the future! A sight to behold! And a picture engraved in their hearts!

Deepak is daddy of course and in case you are wondering, G stands for my mother's name Gayathri! For having kept me in her womb safely for a good 10 months and bringing me to this world, she deserves to be present in my name too right?!

2. Rukmani
This is my dad's paternal grandmother's name who stays in Bangalore .

3. Pankajam
This is my mom's paternal grandmother's name. She is no more but apparently I share the same birth star (Kettai) with her!

4. NeelaDevi
Lord Vishnu (Perumal) is believed to have as his escorts SriDevi and Bhoodevi on the two sides and Neeladevi in his heart. My mom's other name is Sridevi and Maith Chithi's other name is Bhoodevi. So most appropriately, my name has been kept as Neeladevi to complete the picture! Awesome isn't it :)

5. Purvi
This is the last name kept for me. Purvi is a lovely Ragam which is a janyam (or child) of the 15th Melakartha ragam Mayamalavagowlai. Since I was born on the 15th, this is quite in line! Furthermore, the last 2 letters vi symbolize the tamil year in which I was born - Via.
